About 150 passengers who were to land in Craiova from Liverpool on the night of Monday to Tuesday were grounded after the commander of the Wizz Air plane that should fly them to Romania had decided to leave earlier, with the empty aircraft due to the storm that hit UK and Ireland.
The director of the Craiova Airport, Mircea Dumitru, said that the Wizz Air plane had first operated the flight from Craiova to Liverpool, but had landed to Doncaster due to the bad weather.
Then, the commander decided to go back to Craiova without being able to take the passengers waiting in Liverpool.
The airport manager added that only the aircraft commander could take decisions in such cases.
The Wizz Air representatives also informed that the Liverpool-Craiova flight had been cancelled due to the bad weather, while offering the passengers the possibility to re-schedule an alternative flight free of charge.
