ARMO: eCommerce will increase in 2017 by 35 pc in Romania

eCommerce in Romania will reach this year about EUR 2.8 billion, up 35 percent year-on-year, above the initial estimate of EUR 2.5 billion, Romanian Association of Online Stores (ARMO) shows in a press release.

”eCommerce’s evolution in the first nine months of the year, as well as the targets announced by the online stores for the most important shopping event of the year, Black Friday, have led us to positively re-evaluate the estimate on the online commerce market value in 2017,” Florinel Chis, ARMO executive director stated.

Last year, the eCommerce in Romania increased by 38 percent, to EUR 2.05 billion, according to the Global Ecommerce Association report, placing Romania on the first place in Europe, in terms of the growth rate, and ranks second globally after Australia, which recorded a 40 percent advance.

Moreover, according to Chis, the value of online commerce is expected to reach EUR 5 billion by 2020.
