A car with four British citizens on board was involved Thursday morning in a road accident on DN 15A connecting Bistrita to Mures County (central-northern Romania) near a rail crossing with the driver dying on the spot and the other passengers seriously injured, tvr.ro informs.
The car left the carriageway and hit a tree on the side of the road.
According to the Bistrita-Nasaud Emergency Situations Inspectorate spokesman, Marius Rus, two extrication teams, two SMURD crews and two other Ambulances arrived at the site.
The four victims, three adults and a 16-year-old, were found in the car. The driver has died on the spot, and the other injured were taken out by the extrication teams in about 25 minutes, being in serious condition.
The intervention of a SMURD helicopter, which landed on DN 15A, was requested for one of the injured, to take him to a specialized clinic in Târgu Mureş. During the intervention, traffic on DN 15A was blocked.
First information says the four British citizens are volunteers of a foundation and came to Bistrita-Nasaud County to help build a house for a needy family.
Police are to determine the circumstances and the exact causes that have led to this road accident.
