PM Grindeanu meets Austrian ambassador, talks focus on cooperation, EU

Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu has received Monday at Victoria Palace the Austrian Ambassador Gerhard Reiweger, the two officials discussed the development of political cooperation between the two countries, while maintaining the excellent level of bilateral economic exchanges, realitatea.net reports.

“We want an intensification of political dialogue between our countries, including in the preparation for the beginning of 2019, when Romania will take over the rotating presidency of the European Council from Austria. A pragmatic and effective cooperation on the main European dossiers, in the context of current debates about the future of the European Union, must be a priority of the relations between our countries,” Prime Minister Grindeanu said.

The government states that a good opportunity to intensify this dialogue will be the visit Prime Minister Grindeanu will pay, in the near future, to Vienna.

Steps in this direction have already started at the Foreign Ministries of the two countries, the release reads.

“During the meeting, the importance of economic relations between Romania and Austria was highlighted, to the benefit of both countries, given that Austria is one of Romania’s main economic partners,” the statement reads.
