PRIA Agriculture, spring’s highlight agriculture event. Women in agriculture and their business success stories to be awarded

PRIA Agriculture Conference by PRIAevents represents a real platform of debate among farmers, authorities and companies operating in the agri field. The event, hosted at the National Theatre in Bucharest on March 20 at 14:00hrs, will tackle major topics for Romania’s agriculture.

The conference is joined by the PRIA-Women Agriculture gala where women involved in agriculture will be awarded.

Agriculture is vital for the whole world. The European Union allots a high budget and a particular focus on this sector, with the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) enhancing the competition and the sustainability of the agriculture in the EU by granting direct payments to the farmers and financing the development programmes in the EU’s rural regions.

Agriculture plays an important role in Romania as well. Romania ranks second in the EU on honey production and third in the top largest European exporter of grain crops. Our country is also the largest wine producer in Central and Eastern Europe and the 6th producer in Europe, after France, Italy, Spain, Germany and Portugal.

Romania’s agricultural potential is very high and there is still room for increase.

Among topics approached within the upcoming conference there will be the Government’s priorities on the local agricultural, the agriculture agencies’s activity in enforcing the CAP, what new measures will be taken this year, what are the sums allotted, how do we increase the EU funds absorption, how can banks, leasing companies and guarantee funds help increase the EU funds absorption or what is the role of the investment funds destined to agriculture.

Topics such as national land register or supporting investments to rise the performance of the agricultural exploitations by performing equipment and facility endowment and to modernize the farms, as well as supporting young farmers, state aid in agriculture and subsidies for the Romanian farmers in 2017 are also to be debated by about 200 experts and attendees from the Agriculture Ministry, Government, APIA, agricultural research institutes, associations and trade unions, chambers of commerce, producers, distributors, representatives of the World Bank and of other banks in Romania, leasing companies, investment and guarantee funds and insurance companies.

As the number of women involved in the agriculture in Romania is quite larger, the PRIA Conference will award several female farmers and businesswomen in agriculture, while also hearing what challenges they are facing, what they need to improve and increase their businesses, what are their business  success stories.
