Romanian city among The Telegraph’s 13 world destinations easier to visit in 2017

Announcing UK airlines’ new destinations for 2017, The Telegraph also mentioned a Romanian city among them, however not a “traditional touristic one”.

Carriers regularly chop and change the routes they operate, but the new year is the best time to pay attention to the exciting additions to the UK’s travel map over the next 12 months. Read on for the pick of the routes launching in 2017,” says the UK landmark newspaper in the article entitled “13 incredible destinations that are now easier to visit”.

The Romanian city is Craiova, southern Romania, that ranks 13th in the British chart.

Informing there is a flight from Liverpool to Craiova as of March 27, operated by Wizzair, the above-mentioned source presents a brief description on the city, considered the capital of Oltenia region, southern Romania.

A lesser-known destination in eastern Europe, the southern Romanian university town of Craiova, founded on the site of the Dacian stronghold Pelendava (which later became the Roman Castra Nova), prides itself on a strong academic tradition and wealth of important historical figures and the world-famous sculptor Constantin Brancusi who studied at the Craiova Art School and carved his first sculptures here. Craiova is Romania’s 6th largest city, capital of Dolj county, located near the east bank of the Jiu River in central Oltenia. Landmark political standing, commercial city (home to Automobile Dacia factory, now owned by Ford), important educational center, Craiova has 269,506 inhabitants and boasts a recently revamped airport.
