About 80 educational units were raided on Tuesday in a case of tax evasion through school competitions with a EUR 3.14 million prejudice.
40 teachers are suspects in this case and were lifted by Bucharest police. Among the raided educational units there is “Rainbow Kinder Campus” Educational Center, which belongs to a company controlled by Codru?a Constantinescu, the wife of Constan?a County Council president, Nicu?or Constantinescu, and by her god-daughter.
Searches have also been conducted at Spectrum School, the police probing into the Arhimede contest organized in this unit.
The representatives of Constanta County School Inspectorate (CSI) stated that in the past years the institution has banned the organization and the progress of paid school competitions and that no school in the state school network was involved in organizing the Arhimede competition.
Over 200 policemen in Bucharest made 80 searches in the Capital City and seven counties on Tuesday morning, eyeing suspects of tax evasion by organizing school competitions. Over 30 raids aimed schools, including national colleges “Mihai Viteazul”, “Spiru Haret” and “Aurel Vlaicu”, “?tefan Odobleja” High School and “Constantin Brâncu?i” Technical College.
The rest of the searches were conducted at foundations, associations and individuals, including the “Arhimede” magazine, which organizes school competitions, and its editor-in-chief, Petru? Alexandrescu.
