Amazon, the world’s largest online retailer, will officially open the development centre in Bucharest on May 9, in the Globalworth Campus, developed by the Globalworth investment fund led by Ioannis Papalekas,.
The company has invested more than EUR 40 million in Romania so far to develop state-of-the-art technologies with 600 employees. In October, 400 people were recruited in Iasi, to work in an office covering over 13,000 square meters.
The Bucharest team will work on the development of operating systems, virtualization, cloud computing and network technologies behind Amazon Web Services, key elements of the technical foundation of Amazon.
Amazon could reach more than 1,000 employees in the country.
