About 6.8 million Romanians have shopped online in 2016, the Association of Romanian Online Stores (ARMO) informs in a press release.
Romania is an important emerging market in eCommerce sector, posting an increase of 24.2 percent in 2015. The total value of online commerce reached EUR 1.4 billion in 2015. The total value of the eCommerce sector in Romania is forecast to reach over EUR 2 billion this year.
On this occasion, ARMO announced that has joined the pan-European ecommerce association. Romania is now the 17th country to have an ecommerce association joining EMOTA – European Ecommerce & Omnichannel Association.
Also, the Romanian eCommerce association ARMO has joined Ecommerce Europe, one week after it joined EMOTA.
Jörgen Bödmar, the president of EMOTA, said he is looking forward to working with an association from Romania, one of the fastest growing ecommerce markets in Europe. “With a vast knowledge of the Romanian eCommerce market, ARMO will provide EMOTA with a much needed insight into the many issues and barriers facing Romania’s ecommerce industry.”
“Our affiliation to EMOTA and Ecommerce Europe is a step forward for the Romanian ecommerce. We are happy and eager to exchange best practices with the members of the two organizations and to ally ourselves to the common goal of removing the unnecessary trade barriers,” Florinel Chis, the executive director ARMO, said in his turn.
