21,000 new jobs put on the market by start-ups and small companies this autumn

Start-ups and small companies with up to 50 employees started the autumn with 21,000 new jobs on the market for job seekers. Year-to-date, 131,000 new jobs have been posted by small and startup businesses.

The fields in which most people were recruited were services, retail, transport – logistics, tourism, the food industry and construction. “Small companies and start-ups remain active in the labor market and hold about a third of the total number of jobs posted this year. Even if in certain areas, such as retail, services or the food industry, they struggle with large employers, with strong brands and extensive national coverage, they are a very good option for young candidates at the beginning of their careers, for those who looking for a conversion or for those who are attracted by entrepreneurial projects”, says Roxana Drăghici, Head of Sales within eJobs online recruitment platform.

Most of the posted jobs are addressed to candidates from the entry level (0-2 years of experience), mid-level (2-5 years of experience) and no-experience candidates. Moreover, compared to last month, there was an increase in the number of new jobs in the “no experience” segment. The least sought after are seniors (over 5 years of experience) and managers. Almost 90% of small employers are looking for full-time candidates. Their openness to part-time, seasonal contracts or internships and volunteering is less than in the case of larger companies.

Bucharest and Ilfov, Cluj-Napoca, Iași, Brașov, Sibiu and Timișoara are the cities where there are the most options for candidates who want to work in a start-up or in a company with no more than 50 employees.

“These employers do not make massive recruitments, but it is a category of companies very well represented on the labor market. For example, in the last two months, almost 4,000 companies with a maximum of 50 employees, namely start-ups and small companies, were active with at least one job ad on the platform,” adds Roxana Drăghici.50% of the ads posted on this segment of companies have the salary displayed, a percentage that is 10% higher than the general market average.

“Transparency, especially salary transparency, is appreciated by candidates and can be an extremely convincing argument to apply to a particular employer. Including for companies, it is a solution to go more targeted towards candidates and to avoid situations in which they lose applicants following failed salary negotiations”, says Roxana Drăghici.
