“Piesvaux Xavier’s term will end during July, leaving Delhaize Group to follow other professional opportunities. In managing director (COO) position of Mega Image will be appointed Vassilis Stavrou, who has a long professional path within Delhaize Group, holding executive positions in various fields of activity,” a press release announced on Friday.
Piesvaux spent 10 years with the team Mega Image Romania and was appointed COO in 2008. Under Piesvaux’s leadership, Mega Image group has strongly grown, reaching the largest retail chain with over 350 stores in Romania today.
Currently, Greek Vassilis Stavrou is Chief Business Development Officer for Southeastern Europe & Indonesia within the Belgian Group.
He has been with the company since 1994, beginning his career in the network Alfa Beta in Greece, where he held various positions with major responsibilities in departments such as Logistics, Food Safety and Human Resources. Later, he turned its career to positions with regional responsibility, namely Human Resources and Sustainability for South Eastern Europe.
