German discounter Aldi Süd will cut around 100 jobs, Bild reports. The measure primarily affects the administration in Mülheim an der Ruhr – and especially the accounting department.
Internal sources told Bild that the affected departments of the discount giant will be outsourced abroad – to India and Romania. The accounting department currently has around 100 employees. Although there is a job guarantee until spring 2026, the company is apparently considering internally how to deal with the affected employees. Aldi Süd employs around 50,000 people in Germany in total.
A group insider told Bild: “Everything should be properly handed over by spring next year.” “It is part of our DNA to continuously review our structures and processes and – where necessary – adapt them,” the company’s press service confirmed.
German discounter Aldi began the recruiting process of the local management team in 2017, this being a first step that shows the retailer’s intention to enter the Romanian market.
The German giant was founded in 1946 by two brothers, Karl and Theo Albrecht, with 10,000 shops worldwide and businesses worth EUR 50 billion annually.
