Alka Group to invest over EUR 11.5 M in a new production unit in Ploiesti

Alka Group, one of the leading FMCG players in the region, is investing over EUR 11.5 million in building a new production capacity for biscuits and salted snacks, in Ploiesti, a press release informs.

This will be a full chain investment, from taking over the main raw material to the direct sale to consumers

”We decided to open a new production capacity, in addition to the one we already have in Bucharest. An ambitious project for which we have already received the vote of confidence by obtaining a non-reimbursable grant worth EUR 2.4 million. The Ploiesti plant is the way we thank all those who have been with us in our over 20 years of presence on the local market and a promise for the next 20 years,” Ady Hirsch CEO Alka Group stated.

The new production unit will be located within the Ploiesti Industrial Park covering over 10,000 square meters. The assembly of the factory will include a production hall, a warehouse of raw materials, an administrative building, a technical center and a shop with a terrace. More than 25 percent of the entire site will be occupied by green areas.

Out of the entire investment of EUR 11.5 million, over EUR 3.5 million comes from private co-financing, and about EUR 2.4 million is non-reimbursable public aid. In the first phase, the new production facility will create about 100 new jobs.
