In the second half of 2017, Internet users in Romania experienced higher average download speeds, i.e. 115 Mbps for fixed internet and 20 Mbps for mobile Internet, according to the statistics on the fixed and mobile Internet service quality in Romania updated on Netograf.ro, a press release informs.
In H2, the fixed internet download speeds were 5.5 percent higher nationwide, while mobile internet download speeds were higher by 4.3 percent, compared to the first half of 2017.
A growth trend is also remarked in the average mobile upload speed, from 8.60 Mbps in the first half of last year to 9.49 Mbps (+ 10 percent) in the second half of 2017. The average fixed service upload speed remained approximately constant, i.e. 92.77 Mbps.
RCS & RDS tops the fixed internet average speeds in 2017 ranking with an average download speed, of 124.97 Mbps in H1 2017 and 132.6 Mbps in H2 2017. At the same time, the average upload speed reached 125.70 Mbps in H1 and 125.51 Mbps in H2.
RCS & RDS is followed by UPC Romania in terms of download and by Nextgen Communications in terms of upload.
The statistics on the mobile internet average speeds in 2017 show that Orange Romania ranks first with 24.22 Mbps the average download speed in H1 and 24.86 Mbps in H2, while Vodafone Romania is the first in terms of upload: 11.97 Mbps in H1 and 12.95 Mbps in H2.
ANCOM performs, through Netograf.ro, half-yearly and annual statistics on the quality of the fixed and mobile Internet access service in Romania, including the average data download speeds as experienced by each user who performed the measurements through the application, separated by operator.
The statistics were generated by Netograf.ro based on over 273,000 tests conducted by the users in 2017, which were validated and used in the statistics generation process. Of these, over 138,000 tests were conducted during the second half of the year.
