Annual inflation rate up in August

The Consumer Price Indices (CPI) have increased by 5.1% in August 2018 compared to August 2017, the National Institute of Statistics informed on Tuesday.

So, inflation is back upward, after it had decreased to 4.56% in July from 5.41% in June.

The increase was due to the price hike of non-food goods by 6.78%, of foodstuff by 4.15% and of the services by 2.61%.

Moreover, as against the end of December 2017, the August prices were 2.22% higher following the rise by 3.21% of the non-food goods, by 1.56% of the services, and by 1.23% of foodstuff.

At the same time, prices have gone up by 0.28% in August compared to July also because the prices were higher in August by 0.66% at non-food goods, by 0.13% at services .
