APIA: Auto market in Romania, up by more than 11 pc in January – November 2017

 

The sales of new cars increased by 11.1 percent in the first 11 months of the year to 142,300 units, the Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association (APIA) reveals.

At the end of this year, there are premises for the Romanian auto market to exceed the threshold of 150,000 units for the first time in the last nine years, APIA representatives note.

As in previous years, at local level, the car sales in January – November of this year were supported by acquisitions made by legal entities, with a 65 percent share of the total, compared to 35 percent for individuals.

The vehicles, accounting for about 83 percent of total deliveries during the period under review, namely 118,570 units, registered an increase of over 14 percent compared to the same period in 2016, while the commercial vehicles registered a decrease of 1.8 percent.

Regarding the used cars, about 474,000 units were registered in January – November 2017, 58 percent more than registered for the whole year 2016. This figure corresponds to a ratio between the used and the new ones of 4.8 times.

As for the car brands, APIA statistics show that Dacia leads the top, with 38,950 units, followed by Volkswagen, with 14,342 units, Renault – 11,200 units, Ford – 11,125 and Skoda – 10,683.

On models with the 14,795 units delivered, Dacia Logan is the best selling in the first 11 months of 2017, followed by Dacia Duster (7,713 units), Dacia Sandero (7,597), Skoda Octavia (4,505) and Renault Clio (3,500).

As regards the ‘green cars’ (electric and hybrid), there is a 2 percent share of the total deliveries made in the first 11 months of 2017, twice as much as they were in 2016.
