New car sales in Romania recorded an increase of about 22 percent in January, to 9,056 units, compared to the same period in 2017, Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association (APIA) shows.
Car sales accounted for 7,164 units (+ 20.5 percent against January 2017), while commercial vehicles – 1,892 units (+ 27 percent).
According to APIA statistics, the sales are mainly supported by legal entities, covering 76 percent of total car purchases made at the begining of the year.
As regards the used cars, 39,262 units were registered in January (409 percent more than in 2017), the highest volume recorded in the first month of the year.
9,056 vehicles were sold this January, up 21.8 percent year-on-year, of which 7,164 cars (+ 20.5 percent) and 1,892 commercial vehicles (+ 27 percent). Thus, the brands top (cars and commercial vehicles) is led by Dacia, with 1,892 units, followed by Volkswagen (888 units) and Ford (886).
Dacia Logan is the best-selling model with 763 units in the first month of 2018, followed by Dacia Duster – 424 units, Skoda Octavia (331), Dacia Sandero (303) and Volkswagen Golf (222).
Depending on the fuel type, January reports a favorable report for gasoline-powered cars accounting for 50.9 percent of the total, significantly higher than their weight in the first month of 2017 – 44 percent respectively.
