A new microbrewery project is taking shape near Bucharest, Bere București de Cartier´s (Bucharest Beer by Neighborhood) microbrewery. Located in Corbeanca, Ilfov, the coming brewery will have a production capacity of 24,000 beer bottles each month, three times more than the current capacity.
The total investment of the project implemented by Bere București de Cartier is USD 240,000, of which OTP Bank’s financing is USD 160,000. The factory is designed to produce the crafted beers Rahova, Pantelimon, Drumul Taberei and Dristor brands, but three other brands will be added soon. The fully automated production unit will be operational this autumn and combines bottling and labeling lines. To design and build the machines, the company has worked together with engineers and technicians who have fully adapted production lines to the characteristics of craft beer production.
Bere București de Cartier currently produces Rahova, Pantelimon, Drumul Taberei and Dristor brands, and this autumn Dorobanți, Berceni and Titan will join the portfolio, once the new microbrewery will come into operation. The brands have been developed from the nostalgia of old beers and the target is composed of generations who grew up in Bucharest urban environment from 1980s to the 1990s. They were refined with the help of a Belgian brewer that manages the crafts quality.
“We found in our banking partner a necessary broad-mindedness and guidance for a start-up such as Bere București de Cartier. The financing helped us implement the project properly, to go on with an absolutely necessary development stage in our brewery evolution, and this will support us reach a place in top three nationally craft beer producers,” said Bogdan Florea, Managing Partner Bere București de Cartier.
“We are constantly focusing on financing entrepreneurial business and stimulating private initiative. Besides the strength of its business plan, Bere București de Cartier has also impressed us with the story of the beer brands. We are pleased to support the construction of the microbrewery and to give a helping hand to the development of the local beer culture and supply,” said in his turn Roxana Hidan, Director of OTP Bank Romania SME Department.
