BET Index Adds Antibiotice and Premier Energy to Bucharest Stock Exchange

As of September 23, the BET index, the main index of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), welcomes two new companies: Antibiotice Iasi (ATB) and Premier Energy (PE).

With over seven decades of experience, Antibiotice is Romania’s leading producer of generic drugs and has been a presence in the capital market for more than 27 years. Its development is closely tied to its journey on the BVB, being one of the first companies listed. On the other hand, Premier Energy, an electricity producer, balancer, distributor, and natural gas supplier, was listed on the BVB this May, following the largest IPO by a Romanian entrepreneurial company in the last five years.

“The inclusion of Antibiotice in the BET index marks a significant milestone for our company, and we are proud to join the top 20 performers in Romania’s capital market. The substantial revenue growth, record profit in 2023, and our strong partnerships in over 70 countries globally, along with robust investments funded from both our own resources and grants, reflect our solid growth trajectory. In the past year, Antibiotice’s share value has nearly tripled, making it one of BVB’s top performers. This growth is driven by our 2030 investment plans and the solid financials from 2023. We aim to maintain investor confidence through responsible business practices, transparency, and integrity, ensuring sustained and meaningful growth,” said Ioan Nani, CEO of Antibiotice.

“We are honored to have Premier Energy Group included in the BET index. Our decision to list on the Bucharest Stock Exchange was strategic, based on the long-term potential of the energy sector and Romania’s economy. Inclusion in the BET index, in line with the promises made during the IPO, reflects both our stock’s performance and our future potential. As the first private energy company in the index, this is a significant milestone. It strengthens our commitment to transparency and visibility in Romania’s capital market. With our diversified and vertically integrated business model, we bring valuable representation to the index. We thank our shareholders for their trust and look forward to leveraging capital markets as a key driver of our growth,” said Jose Garza, CEO of Premier Energy Group.

By joining the BET index, both companies will also be included in the gross and net total return versions of the index, namely the BET-TR and BET-TRN. Additionally, Premier Energy has been included in the BET-XT, BET-XT-TR, BET-XT-TRN, BET-BK, BET-NG, and BET Plus indices, after its prior inclusion in BET-EF this year. Antibiotice is also part of the BET-XT, BET-XT-TR, BET-XT-TRN, BET-BK, and BET Plus indices.

“Congratulations to Antibiotice and Premier Energy for their inclusion in the BET index! This achievement highlights the efforts of their teams and the confidence investors have placed in their future, which has driven liquidity and company value. These changes reflect the strong performance of the newly added companies, whose free float capitalization trends have outpaced the companies they replaced. Their performance has drawn attention from both local and international investors, showcasing how the success of listed companies attracts new investors and fosters capital market growth,” said Radu Hanga, Chairman of BVB.

“Index investability is crucial for any local market investor, whether institutional or retail. By including Antibiotice and Premier Energy in the main index, we believe BET will become more attractive, particularly to fund managers. It will also serve as a better underlying asset for the BET futures contract we plan to launch next year. We congratulate both companies and expect these developments to enhance the importance and appeal of the extended indices we manage, such as BET-XT or BET-BK,” said Adrian Tanase, CEO of the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

These updates are part of the quarterly review of the BVB indices, following a meeting on September 5, where revisions to the index composition were decided.
