Brico Depôt Romania, part of Kingfisher plc home improvement retailer is starting the rebranding of the portfolio of Praktiker stores in Brico Depôt.
With Praktiker acquisition, the Kingfisher group is consolidating its position on the local market, ranking second in Romania right now, with a network of 38 stores.
The rebranding process will be concluded by the start of the spring season, so that in the first part of 2019 Kingfisher will operate the entire network in Romania under the Brico Depôt brand.
„We continue the consolidation strategy of the operations after the Praktiker acquisition by starting the rebranding process. Our ambition is to become leader of the home improvement market (…),” said Adela Smeu, CEO Brico Depôt Romania.
Besides the rebranding, the optimization plan of the company also includes the shutdown of three Praktiker stores, the ones in Arad, Brasov and Pitesti.
Brico Depôt says it has already envisaged a support plan to integrate as many employees from these stores in the existing network.
„It hasn’t been an easy decision. We understand the impact the decision has on our colleagues and we’ve built a plan and allow them to work in other Brico Depôt stores or to provide them support to find other hiring opportunities on the local market,” said the CEO.
In 2016, Kingfisher group launched a new operational strategy, ONE Kingfisher, where focus is on an united offer of products to improve the house, on capitalizing the digital media.
