CIS Group announces the signing of a contract for the construction of a photovoltaic park in Copșa Mică. The total investment for this project amounts to nearly 100 million lei and the park is expected to become operational at the beginning of next year. The project is financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Component C6 – Energy, which aims to support investments in new capacities for producing electricity from renewable wind and solar energy sources.
With a production capacity of 23 MW and a storage capacity of 4 MW, the photovoltaic park in Copșa Mică contributes to increasing renewable sources in the national energy mix and is part of CIS Group’s commitment to supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy.
The new photovoltaic park will generate a significant amount of green energy annually, thereby reducing the carbon footprint and diversifying the energy sources available in the market. Additionally, the 4 MW storage capacity will allow the park to efficiently manage energy fluctuations and ensure a stable supply to the grid during periods of intermittent renewable energy production.
Two more projects to be launched by the end of this year
CIS Group will continue to develop new initiatives in the green energy sector, aligning with its long-term strategy to reduce carbon emissions. By the end of 2024, the company plans tolaunch an ambitious project to build a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with a capacity of 50 MW near Târgu Mureș. This system will play an important role in balancing network fluctuations and ensuring continuity of supply during periods when renewable sources are intermittent. The installation will store energy during periods of low demand and release it during peak times, thus contributing to the stability and efficiency of the national electricity grid.
Additionally, by the end of 2024, CIS Group will begin constructing a new photovoltaic park near the city of Reghin, with a production capacity of approximately 5 MW and a storage capacity of 1 MW.
“We focus on developing solutions that not only meet current energy needs but also actively contribute to reducing dependence on conventional energy sources and protecting the environment. We are investing in Romania’s green future, and we believe that these projects will have a significant impact both on the economy and local communities,” states Sebastian Călugăr, CEO of CIS Group.
