Comarnic-Brasov motorway, tendered out again

After numerous delays and cancellations, the 10 kilometers of Comarnic – Brasov highway will be put out again at auction, PM Victor Ponta announced on Thursday, after the project was posted on the auction website of public procurement,

“Comarnic – Brasov motorway is perhaps the last major project that I wanted to do,” Romanian PM said, informs.

The news comes after when a month ago, the National Company of Motorways and National Roads (CNADNR) has announced the official cancellation of the procedure for awarding the concession for the construction Comarnic – Brasov motorway segment, due to problems regarding financing.

So, the construction works on Comarnic – Brasov motorway are to begin this year, as the former minister of Transport, Ioan Rus, promised, the authorities were carrying strategic negotiations with the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, with the state budget, with technicians who have various options to resolve.

Also, Prime Minister has stated that he received final approval from the European Commission for the EUR 1 billion drafts for the Ministry of Transport so that the new minister, Iulian Matache, will enter into the office with fund from the European authorities.
