Romania’s agricultural production last year was worth 16.6 billion euros, 14% more than in 2022. Romania thus reported the second highest increase in the value of agricultural production in the EU, after Portugal, and 6% of the value EU agricultural production.
The value of agricultural production in basic prices passed last year, for the first time, the threshold of 16 billion euros, after a 14% increase compared to the previous year, according to European Commission data.
Romania thus had the second largest increase in this indicator after Portugal (plus 19.2%, up to 7.4 billion euros) and generated 6% of the value of EU agricultural production. A year ago, the share of Romania’s agricultural production in the EU total was 5.5%.
In terms of value, Romania is the seventh European producer, the leaders being France (53.6 billion euros), Italy (37.7 billion euros), Germany (36.5 billion euros) Spain (36.1 billion euros), Poland (18.1 billion euros), the Netherlands (16.8 billion euros).
In 2021, the value of agricultural production in basic prices was 10.1 billion euros. Romania has around 2 million farms, of which 93.7% generate revenues of less than 8,000 euros per year.
