Dacia has recorded the best performance in its history in 2018, with sales of 700,798 cars on the domestic and international markets, up by 7% against the previous year, a release from the company informs on Friday.
“The Romanian brand has actually doubled sales in only seven years. Thus, the threshold of 350,000 units was exceeded in 2012, in 2013 was exceeded the 400,000 threshold, in 2014 the one of 500,000 units and in 2017 the 600,000 threshold,” the car manufacturer’s representatives say.
Dacia cars sales on foreign markets have increased by 5.5%, reaching 646,000 units.
One of the best performances was in Europe, with 511,000 units sold in 2018, placing the manufacturer on the 14th position in the rankings of best sold brands, with a market share of 2.9%, up by 0.27 percentage points against the previous year.
Historical records of sales were noticed in France, Italy, Spain, Poland and Belgium, while in Germany Dacia has reached a level close to the record in 2009. About 50,000 cars were sold in Morocco.
The sales on the Romanian market reached 54,593 units, by 26.2% more than in the previous year, reaching a market share of more than 30% of new cars sales.
The release also informs that the new Duster was sold to 13,179 customers, most of them (77%) choosing the 4×4 option.
Logan sedan was sold in 21,176 units, i.e. almost 39% of Dacia sales on the domestic market.
Sandero was leader on the B-Hatch segment in Romania, with sales reaching 10,218 units. Other models: Logan MCV – 3,779 units, Dokker – 2,227 units and Lodgy – 1,061 units.
