ELCEN, the thermal power producer, requests ANRE to increase the price by 10%

ELCEN thermal energy producer has requested the National Regulatory Authority for Energy (ANRE) to increase the production price of Gcal by about 10%, Claudiu Creţu, the company’s special administrator, has said on Monday. He argues that the request was necessary for the company to cover its costs, but also that the increase would be reflected in the final bills paid by the consumers, hotnews.ro informs.

The price of gas has increased, so the Gcal price needs to be updated, he said.

On October 22, 2018, ELCEN’s judicial administrator announced in a press release that the reorganization of Romania’s largest thermal power producer has begun, one day after the syndic judge confirmed the plan.

ELCEN’s reorganization solution mainly concerns the transfer of assets from the ELCEN patrimony to Energetica SA, a municipal company subordinated to the Capital City Hall, so that the SACET – city’s heat supply system – will be centralized under the conditions that RADET will proceed with the assets transfer to Energetica.
