Gameloft’s Cluj Studio Closing, All Employees to Be Laid Off

Gameloft Romania, a subsidiary of the French Gameloft group, a leading producer of mobile device games, is shutting down its Cluj-Napoca studio and terminating all employees currently employed there, as reported by Profit.ro. Overall, 136 employees will be laid off.

“At the company level, we must constantly reevaluate our production capabilities. After careful consideration and responding to the ever-changing market conditions, it became necessary to implement a workforce reduction. Unfortunately, this brings us to the situation of closing our office in Cluj and parting ways with our 136 employees. This decision was not an easy one and we understand the impact it has on the affected employees. We will work with them, on a case-by-case basis, to find the best way to manage the situation”, the company informed.

The notices will be issued on June 10, and July 10 will be the last day of work for the fired employees.

Gameloft has been present on the Romanian market since 1999. The studio in Cluj was opened in August 2010.
