Competition Council Analyzes Bucharest Real Estate Market

The Competition Council has started a study on the residential and non-residential real estate market in Bucharest, in order to identify possible barriers that stand in the way of the development of the industry, but also aspects that can mislead the consumer.

The study will probe into the relationships between the companies active on the market, as well as into their mode of operation in different phases of real estate development.

“The competition authority aims to clarify aspects that can affect competition and, implicitly, consumers, such as the legislation, the pace of development, the causes that lead to the increase in prices or the eventual decrease in quality in construction. As a result, the Competition Council will request information from actors active on the real estate market, as well as the opinion of consumers regarding the quality of constructions, available facilities or their management. At the end of the analysis, the Competition Council will issue proposals and recommendations to eliminate the identified problems, says a press release of the authority.

The Competition Council mentioned that its priority is to identify and to remove any dysfunctions manifested within the markets, as well as to fix any disorder regarding the access or relations of the companies active in the market. The Council also added that it will order sanctions if any law violation are detected.
