Continental, the biggest employer of Romanian automotive industry by 2020

Continental, one of the top automotive suppliers worldwide, has big plans for the domestic market. German Group currently has 15,000 employees in Romania and this year the target is to increase the team.

“We have increased the past years with nearly 1,000 people each year. At this point I do not see reasons we did not continue at the same pace in the next 2-3 years. For 4-5 year the forecasts are more difficult to make, “said Christian von Albrichsfeld, General Manager Continental Automotive Romania, quoted by 0-100.hotnews.ro. More specifically it’s about 500 engineers and 500 employees in manufacture.

This means that German based company will reach a work force of 18,000 employees in Romania and will overcome the French Renault Group.

Renault Romania and Dacia did not advance figures on new employees or those who leave the workforce, but the trend is slightly decreasing every year, with hundreds of people, and not an increase with 1,000 employees / year.

According to Christian von Albrichsfeld, Continental Group is looking primarily young workforce, which the company recruits it mainly in technical universities in Timisoara, Sibiu and Iasi.

Company’s attention will be directed toward three directions: driver assistance systems; systems to improve car efficiency and communication technologies between vehicles and infrastructure.
