Dacia Mioveni in robotics era: A car is manufactured every 54 seconds

Dacia plant in Mioveni uses over 800 industrial robots for the motor vehicles production, about 80 percent of the parts are automatically synchronized.

”We produce a car every 54 seconds, meaning 1,500 cars a day, reaching different countries. Each model is manufactured in different versions, in different colors and with different options,” Antoine Doucerain, the new General Manager of Automobile Dacia and Renault Romania said during a press visit at Dacia Mioveni unit.

On this occasion, he pointed out the plant is modern, this wouldn’t be possible without investing in technology. ”We also invested in more than 3 million hours of training, and this is the most important thing in order to be ready for the future,” Doucerain also stated.

Asked about company’s plans for an electric or hybrid Dacia, Doucerain said: “We have no plans at the moment, because we currently manufacture affordable cars and electric cars are not accessible from this point of view. Still, you never know”.

The total value of the investments made by the Renault Groupe at Dacia during 2000-2017 period is about EUR 2.3 billion, while the total investments made in Romania amount to EUR 2.8 billion.

More than 310,000 cars were produced in Dacia Mioveni unit in 2017, 93 percent of production being exported. Dacia models are among the best-selling cars in Russia, UK, Germany or France. Duster, Logan and Sandero are in the top 25.

Moreover, the turnover of Automobile Dacia has exceeded in 2017, for the first time, the EUR 5 billion threshold, up by 11 percent against 2016.
