According to Romania’s Association of Automotive Manufacturers (ACAROM), Dacia carmaker, owned by the French Renault group, produced 142,835 vehicles in the first five months, 1 percent more than in the same period last year.
Most models were Duster, 88,728 units (62.1 percent of the total), followed by MCV (20,454), Sandero (20,313) and Logan (13,340).
“To these are added the SKDs, assembled in Algeria, in a volume of 21,033 units,” ACAROM points out in a press release.
The turnover of the automotive industry advanced by 10 percent in 2016 to EUR 22 billion, reaching 13 percent of GDP, as the industry generates almost a quarter of Romania’s total exports, ACAROM also shows.
