The Dacia Sandero was the best-selling car in Europe in 2024.
The Tesla Model Y had one last attempt to overtake the Sandero in December, when it was in first place, 6,400 behind the model produced in Romania and Morocco by Dacia. With 28,426 cars sold in the last month of the year and an increase of 15%, the Tesla Model recovered some of the difference, but this did not change the final ranking in any way.
The Dacia Sandero, in turn, had a consistent advance of 20.3% in the last month of the year, with a total of 22,025 cars, the increase compared to 2023 being almost identical to that of Tesla: 3,723 cars, compared to 3,713, according to data published by Data Force.
Dacia Sandero totaled 270,111 units sold throughout 2024, in Europe, and officially took first place in the region, for the first time in the history of this model and for the first time in Dacia’s history. Sandero’s annual growth was 14.3%, an increase of 33,868 cars compared to 2023.
Second place was not taken by Model Y, but by Renault Clio, which surpassed its main rival, VW Golf, by a millimeter, which it has been seconding for many years. The difference between the two was 20 cars, so the second position is a fragile one, especially since the data does not include 100% of European markets.
Clio’s volume was 216,569 units, and that of VW Golf, 216,549 units, both of which increased compared to last year.
The following places were occupied by the Tesla Model Y (4th place, 210,484 units), VW T-Roc (203,611 units), Peugeot 208 (199,820 units), VW Tiguan (195,297 units), Toyota Yaris Cross (194,512 units), Skoda Octavia (182,801 units) and Toyota Yaris (180,806 units).
