Daimler opens new facility for high-pressure pipelines in Cugir

Star Transmission, Daimler subsidiary in Romania, continues its development strategy by inaugurating on Thursday a new production unit in Cugir, Alba County, local zf.ro informs.

Over 150 new employees will produce high-pressure pipelines for petrol engines.

The new hall in Cugir has an area of 4000 sqm and is only for the production of high-pressure pipelines for Mercedes Benz petrol engines. The total investment amounts to EUR 13 million and Star Transmission will be the sole supplier of this component worldwide. The production line is partially automated and 17 different types of pipes that will be subsequently fitted on 5 types of engines are going do be manufactured here.

The high-pressure pipelines are connecting the injection pump and the injector without pressure loss. They are intensively required when using them, both due to high-pressure fuel and high-frequency of fuel injections.

The German automotive corporation Daimler focuses on training its employees, which is the reason why some of new employees have received a specialization of about six months at the Mercedes Benz plant in Berlin, where the project was carried out until now.

A team of experts from Berlin came with the employees to offer them support and assistance during the starting period of the project in Cugir. The plant in Berlin will operate as a competence center for CAMTRONIC engine functionality.
