Dunapack Packaging extends and modernises plant in Sfantu Gheorghe

Dunapack Packaging, part of the Prinzhorn Austrian Group, has concluded the first stage of revamping the corrugated packaging plant in Sfantu Gheorghe, Covasna county, central Romania.

Modernisation includes increasing the existing storage capacity by over 4,000 sqm, enabling the company to improve its services.

In this first stage, the plant has been equipped with a Bobst type cardboard processing machine and with a Masterfold glue machine, so the entire packing system has been fully automated.

The second phase of modernistation will see the replacement of the corrugated cardboard machine by a new device, BHS brand. The equipment works will be concluded in the first quarter of 2020.

Next to the new Dunapack plant in Bolintin, 20 km away from Bucharest, which will start its activity in the summer of this year, the company will reach a production capacity of over 300 million square metres per year in Romania.

“After more than 20 years of solid presence in Romania we are really proud of our local team. The Sfântu Gheorghe plant always served as excellent entry-hub. The upgrade will strengthen and secure this position for a long period of time,” said Alexander Enzenberg, MD of Dunapack Packaging Division.

“With our unique double-plant-setup and with state of the art machinery in place, we will be able to supply our customers with even better high quality packaging solutions. This keeps us confident to look into a bright future in this vibrant and important market,” stated in his turn Stanislav Razpopov, Regional Director South of Dunapack Packaging.

At present, the Dunapack Packaging division is represented by 20 corrugated packaging factories in 10 countries.
