EC suspects Agriculture Minister Daea has inflated ‘the record crops’ in the past two years

In an official letter, the European Commission asks the Ministry of Agriculture to review its statistics about the agricultural crops in recent years, at national level. The document is held secretly in the ministry and Minister Petre Daea ignores it, because he would otherwise question one of the main reasons to boast in his mandate: record crops, agrointel.ro informs.

The existence of the letter was reportedly confirmed by European sources within DG Agri, which added that the Brussels officials are extremely revolted by the practices of Minister Petre Daea but have waited for the conclusion of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in order to begin the checks on the reports from the Ministry of Agriculture, the same source reads.
