Enel’s profit in Romania, down by 5 pc at end-Q3

Italian Enel’s EBITDA on Romanian market reached EUR 266 million after the first nine months of the year, down by 5.3 percent year-on-year, amid the drop of production and distribution of electricity revenues.

In January-September 2015, Enel has achieved an EBITDA of EUR 281 million from the operations in Romania, according to the financial report of the Italian group. Last year’s evolution data were revised upwards, from a profit of EUR 227 million previously reported.

Electricity distribution profit fell by 13.5 percent after nine months, from EUR 200 million to EUR 173 million, while earnings from renewable energy activities decreased by 8.3 percent to EUR 55 million.

On retail segment, the profit on domestic market increased by 73.7 percent to EUR 33 million, and the services and operations of thermal energy segment generated a profit of EUR 5 million.

Electric energy production decreased by 200 GWh up to 854 GWh, of which 816 GWh from wind energy, group’s financial report shows.

At group level, Enel reported EBITDA of EUR 12.01 billion, down by 1.2 percent from EUR 12.16 billion in the first nine months of 2015. Net profit rose 32 percent to EUR 2.76 billion.

Recently, energy supply and distribution companies of Enel announced important investments in developing the customer care services.

Thus, Enel Distributie Muntenia completed modernization works for the medium and low voltage grid in the commune of Corbeanca, Ilfov County, valued at over RON 3.5 million, as part of the annual investment plan aimed to increase clients’ comfort.

Also, Enel Energie and Enel Energie Muntenia are improving the customer care area by purchasing a package of inbound & outbound calls and back-office services. The amount invested is over RON 36 million and the acquisition will be managed through a transparent procurement procedure with SEAP (Electronic System of Public Procurement).

The company has more than 3,100 employees and provides services to 2.7 million customers in three key areas of the country: Muntenia Sud (including Bucharest), Banat and Dobrogea, accounting for one third of Romania’s electricity distribution market
