18 investment contracts amounting to RON 1.23 billion (over EUR 280 million), from European funds, were signed Monday at Victoria Palace in the presence of Prime Minister Mihai Tudose and European Commissioner for Regional Policy, Corina Cretu, a press release informs.
The authorities in the Northwest region will benefit most from these funds.
The European Commissioner said that “a lot of efforts have been made to implement the programs funded through the cohesion policy in Romania, and the progress is clear.” “However, these have to be continued. As I have often said, the efficient investments, whose benefits to citizens are visible quickly, is the main argument for maintaining the cohesion policy among major European policies in the post-2020 period,” said Cretu, quoted in the press release.
At the same time, attending the event, Minister-delegate for European Funds, Marius Nica, said that the commitment made this year to attract European funds was met.
According to him, the following contracts were signed on Monday: Bistrita-Nasaud County Council – modernization of DJ172D, Bihor County Council – Transylvania North Regional Route – Apuseni Road, Cluj County Council – Improvement of regional infrastructure – Transilvania Nord regional route, Salaj County Council – rehabilitation and modernization of DJ196 and DJ108.
Of the contracts signed on Monday, 10 targeted private beneficiaries.
