Euroins, City Insurance and Asirom recorded 57 pc of ASF’s total petitions last year

Three insurance companies – Euroins, City Insurance and Asirom – accounted for 57 percent of the total number of petitions received by the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) last year, being the insurance companies with the most complaints in Romania, as a press release informs.

Euroins ranks first with 1,292 petitions, or 20.63 percent of the total, up 17.14 percent over 2016.

City Insurance is next, with 1,203 petitions, representing 19.21 percent of the total, a decrease of 63.86 percent year-on-year.

At the same time, Asirom ranks third, with 1,071 petitions, 17.1 percent of the total, down by 40.93 percent compared to 2016.

The lowest petitions were registered by Uniqa Insurance (2.83 percent of the total), Generali Romania (3.03 percent) and Groupama (3.15 percent).

Last year, ASF registered a total of 9,383 petitions, down 44.54 percent over the previous year.

In 2017, in 2,799 cases, the petitioners claimed non-payment/partial payment of compensation/surrender values required by the insured/injured, meaning 44.69 percent of the total petitions. Other issues raised by consumers included failure to comply with contractual conditions/RCA rules in the case of car insurances (25.45 percent) and requests for recalculation of damage value (5.89 percent).

Last year, the largest share is held by petitions registered in the general insurance class, with a number of 6,063, representing 96.81 percent of the total.

Moreover, there were 1,077 petitions registered in the private pensions market,, down by 4.27 percent year-on-year. Out of these, 965 petitions were resolved uniquely per petitioner.
