Delphi Technologies company is relocating part of its activity of the factory in Sudbury, Great Britain to Iasi, eastern Romania, Digi24 reports.
The auto-parts supplier explained it has taken the decision due to lower costs in Romania. The factory in UK, where over 500 people are currently working, will be gradually shut down by mid-next year, while a part of its activities will be relocated in Iasi.
Delphi has been operating in Romania since 1997, employing 8,000 workers in Iaşi, Sânnicolau Mare, Arad and Moldova Nouă.
However, last year, the factory in Moldova Nouă was shut down over staff shortage.
On the other hand, Delphi giant opened an IT centre in Bucharest several months ago, to host up to 150 people.
