Romanians are divided in terms of responsibility for the crisis determined by the Swiss franc evolution, reveals a survey conducted by INSCOP Research.
According to the research, 30.6 percent of Romanians believe that the responsibility lies with the lending banks.
26.5 percent of Romanians say that responsible for the difficulties are those who have borrowed money, while 15.9 percent indicated the Swiss National Bank as responsible for the situation, and 12.4 percent believe that the responsibility lies with the National Bank of Romania. 14.6 percent did not know or did not answer the question.
Regarding the envisaged solutions to the difficult situation which thousands of Romanians are facing, 37 percent of respondents believe that the higher rates for loans in Swiss francs should be borne both by those who have borrowed money and by the loaning banks. 24.1 percent believe that the higher rates for loans in Swiss francs should be borne solely by those who have borrowed money, while 21.9 percent believe that higher rates should be borne solely by the banks. 4.1 percent of respondents say the state should bear the highest rates. 12.9 percent did not know or did not answer the question.
The INSCOP survey was conducted upon the request of “Adevarul” during February 5-10, 2015. The sample counted 1,065 people and is representative for the Romanian population 18 years old and over 18 years. Survey’s accuracy is of plus/minus 3 percent, with a confidence level of 95 percent. The method used was the survey using a questionnaire filled in by interviewers in respondents’ homes.
