EBRD has appointed new Director for Romania

Victoria Zinchuk was appointed the new director of the EBRD for Romania. She succeeds Mark Davis, who will move to Zagreb to take up his new EBRD regional country management assignment from 1 September. She holds master’s degrees in banking and finance from Kyiv State University and the University of Birmingham.

In Romania, Victoria Zinchuk will lead the EBRD’s operations and support reforms and boost the economy through investment and advisory. The EBRD is carrying out investments in Romania of over 10 billion euros to date. Charlotte Ruhe, EBRD Managing Director, Central and South Eastern Europe, said: “We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Victoria Zinchuk as our new Director for Romania. Victoria brings enthusiasm, expertise and energy to expand our activities here.”

Victoria Zinchuk herself announced her nomination on her LinkedIn account:

“After five amazing years of leading EBRD’s operations in #Croatia and more recently being a Regional Director in charge of Central Europe (including Croatia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic and Hungary), I’m embarking on a new exciting professional journey. My new destination is #Romania, one of EBRD’s top 10 countries of operations with more than EUR 10 billion invested by the Bank in the country to date.

My 5 years in Croatia were incredibly productive, despite COVID pandemic, devastating earthquakes and heart-breaking war in my native Ukraine. Together with my incredible team in Zagreb, we doubled the business in Croatia with ca. EUR 1 billion invested in the country during this period. Zagreb office became a regional hub for our business in Central Europe, a clear recognition of the team’s strengths and ability to successfully manage very complex regional outreach. We worked hard on delivering banking business, providing technical assistance and advisory support to the national and local governments as well as hundreds of local SMEs and start-ups. We also contributed to so many humanitarian causes supporting Croatian people in need (people with disabilities, vulnerable women and children, the elderly) as well as Ukrainian refugees.

I would like to thank my dear colleagues, private and public sector clients, business partners, NGOs and media for all of your incredible support during these last 5 years. I will miss so many of you and hope that we will stay in touch for the years to come.”
