BNR has announced on Friday a EUR/RON exchange rate lower by 0.52 bani to RON 4.4402, while the USD hit a new record, up by 2.63 bani against Thursday to RON 4.0491 lei, due to the strengthening dollar on foreign markets.
On Thursday the Euro was set to RON 4.4454, the dollar to RON 4.0228.
The Swiss Franc fell by 0.75 bani to RON 4.1457.
The dollar strengthened against the major currencies on Friday before the publication of the US labour market data. The investors believe that growth of the labour market increases the likelihood that the US Federal Reserve decides to implement higher interest rates, which are close to zero since December 2008.
