Romania has no need to borrow money from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) or the European Commission (EC).
“We do not have absolutely any dollar debt to the IMF. We paid hardly what it has been borrowed and was well or badly spent – badly rather – in 2010 and 2011”, Prime Minister Victor Ponta said on Wednesday, at the beginning of the Government meeting.
However, the government along with the political leaders we will discuss the opportunities and the conditions for a new deal.
“The agreements with the international institutions during a distressed period for the region and Europe, I personally think are a good thing, but the decision will be taken at political level,” PM pointed out.
Romania’s agreement with the IMF, EC and World Bank (WB) expires at the end of this month.
