Romania remains 47th in the rankings of most competitive economies in the world, according to the annual report of the Institute for Management and Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland, released on Wednesday.
Romania ranks ahead of countries such as Hungary (48th), Slovenia (49th), Greece (50th) and Bulgaria (55th), but is surpassed by Slovakia (46th), Russia (45th), Turkey (40th) and Poland (33rd).
The most competitive economy in the world is the US, ahead of Hong Kong, Singapore, Switzerland, Canada, Luxemburg, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Germany. Romania’s score is of 57.133% of US’s competitiveness, considered the benchmark, the report said.
The Study World Competitiveness Yearbook (WCY) is conducted annually since 1989 and analyzes the competitiveness of economies based on nearly 350 criteria. The 2015 study includes 61 countries.
