BCR is officially launching eGO, the first 100 percent electric car sharing service in Bucharest, offered by a bank. All the available cars are premium vehicles – the BMW i3, a press release informs. eGO service is accessible through a dedicated application that allows locating and booking cars, while the car key is replaced by the BCR contactless card.
In order to use BCR’s eGO, the users in Bucharest need to have a BCR account, to hold a debit or contactless credit card and to use the mobile app available in both Android and iOS.
The service is designed for individuals as well as for companies that want to offer employees a modern urban mobility service. In BCR eGO, users can locate and book the car closest to their location. They also can see the degree of charge of each electric vehicle and where to find the charging stations.
The base tariff for BCR retail customers will be of RON 10 (fixed cost) plus a price of RON 0.4 (VAT included) per minute, half-hour segments can be purchased.
BCR eGO will initially be launched through a fleet of 20 BMW i3 cars, the number of vehicles being subsequently dimensioned according to customer demand.
“According to a BMW Group internal survey for our car-sharing services in Europe, 38 percent of the customers of this program sold their personal car. It’s about older and less efficient cars,” Dana Popescu, Brand Manager BMW i Romania stated.
