First Romanian Appointed CEO of American Company CGS

Computer Generated Solutions (CGS), a global leader in outsourcing services, software applications and AR/VR-based learning solutions, announces the appointment of Vladimir Sterescu as President of the Global Outsourcing Division. He becomes the first Romanian to reach a top position in the global leadership structure of CGS.

Moreover, Vladimir Sterescu is the only Romanian entrepreneur who managed to sell his business to a major international company and advance in its global leadership structure. In his new role, Vladimir Sterescu will coordinate the division’s global teams, which number over 8,000 employees in countries such as the USA, Chile, Colombia, Romania, Israel and India, reporting directly to Phil Friedman, Founder and President of CGS.

This strategic appointment underscores CGS’s commitment to providing exceptional outsourcing services – including customer support, technical assistance, telemarketing and back-office services – for clients in industries such as retail, hospitality, financial services and technology.

“Vlad’s extensive expertise and innovative approaches to supporting client success make him the ideal leader for our outsourcing division,” said Phil Friedman, President and CEO of CGS. The coming years will bring major transformations in the customer experience as customers embrace AI and other advanced technologies. The advantage of CGS is that we were born as a technology company, making us uniquely positioned to help clients improve their efficiency and elevate their customer experiences,” added Phil Friedman.

“Recent transformations open up new horizons for our international expansion, with plans to enter new verticals and industries, as well as to expand horizontally in sectors where we already have a solid presence. We will invest in strengthening existing partnerships and creating new strategic collaborations. The adoption of emerging technologies, especially solutions based on artificial intelligence, will play a key role in redefining the mix between excellence in customer experience and operational efficiency,” said Vladimir Sterescu, President of the CGS Global Outsourcing Division.

According to his statements, being a trusted partner for global leaders in various industries, CGS will continue to act as an integrator of best practices and a catalyst for the transfer of know-how where clients need it most.We are committed to increasing the value we bring to our partners, to developing new competencies in the regions where we are present, but where the potential is not yet fully reached. At the same time, we aim to offer our teammates unique opportunities for international development, keeping CGS at the forefront of companies that accelerate careers and change lives,” added Vladimir Sterescu.

From Romanian entrepreneur to global leader

Vladimir Sterescu’s journey is emblematic of the success of Romanian entrepreneurs on the international stage. In 2003, he founded EasyCall, one of the first call center companies in Romania. At a time when Romania was not on the global outsourcing map, Sterescu laid the foundations for an emerging industry. Three years later, in 2006, he sold his company to CGS, but remained in charge of local operations and later held the position of Vice President EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa).

Over the past 21 years, Vladimir Sterescu has transformed Romania into a regional outsourcing hub. Under his leadership, CGS Romania has grown exponentially, opening 7 operational centers in Bucharest, Brașov, Sibiu, Târgu-Jiu, Miercurea-Ciuc, Constanța and Galați. His contribution has helped position CGS as one of the largest employers in Romania, with over 4,000 employees. Under his leadership, CGS Romania has become an important hub for the delivery of business process outsourcing (BPO) services for clients in various industries, such as telecommunications, technology, finance and retail.

Cristian Berdilă to take over operations in Romania

With this strategic move, CGS also announces that the new Vice President of Operations for Romania is Cristian Berdilă. In his new position, he will coordinate the operational advancement of the company and strengthen the role of CGS Romania as a trusted partner for clients in sectors such as IT, telecommunications, banking and retail. Berdilă began his career at CGS in 2005, as a call center agent, working for clients in the US, and his professional rise demonstrates the growth potential of CGS employees. Throughout his career, Cristian Berdilă has coordinated operational strategies for six centers in Romania, with over 4,000 professionals, providing world-class outsourcing services focused on customer support, technical assistance, customer relations and telemarketing.
