France-based manufacturer of sanitary equipment Wirquin Group will build next year a new factory in Romania on an area of 10,000 square meters in Bucharest, where the company already owns a unit.
According to Mihai Popovici, Development Manager Wirquin Romania, the investment is motivated by the need to increase production, as the products manufactured in the current factory in Romania are also exported to countries such as Bulgaria, Greece, Croatia, Hungary, Georgia or the Republic of Moldova.
”We want the new factory to be equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to European standards. The completion of the new plant will also create new jobs, an important thing considering that the unemployment rate still fluctuates around 5 percent. We foresee the doubling of the number of employees on long-term. There is an optimistic outlook, according to which the new facility will be ready by the end of next year,” Popovici stated.
This year, the local subsidiary had an 18 percent increase in turnover compared to the previous year. The main investments focused on manufacturing embedded frames and the modernization of the plastics’ injection line.
”Compared with Wirquin subsidiaries in other countries, the unit in Romania has registered the largest development. Most of the investments were concentrated in Romania, where the group’s first center of excellence was established, targeting embedded frames production area. We are the company that has recorded the highest growth within the group, posting the most spectacular results in recent years. Specifically, the turnover has grown from EUR 700,000, five years ago, to about EUR 4 million for 2017,” Wirquin Romania official also stated.
One of the company’s goals is to double the turnover over the next five years.
For 2018, Wirquin Romania aims to remain a major player on the local market of sanitary equipment manufacturers, but also in CEE (Central and Eastern Europe).
