German group Dräxlmaier invests EUR 50 M in a new production unit in Brasov

Dräxlmaier opened on Thursday two new production halls and created 500 new jobs in Codlea, near Brasov, where will be manufactured components for door and car interiors, a press release informs.

“The factory in Brasov is extremely important to the group and this expansion was absolutely necessary, considering the orders we receive from our customers. Moreover, it is already known that our specialists have shown that Group’s investments deserve to be targeted here,” said Marius Suranyi, general manager of Dräxlmaier factory in Brasov.

In his turn, Prime Minister Victor Ponta, attending the event, said: „Dräxlmaier is the kind of company that any government and any country would want to have. They invest on medium and long term, create jobs and pay taxes on time. Moreover, the German company invests in dual education development, that will work in Romania as well as in Germany and Austria” and he continued: „The measures that the government has taken so far, as well as through the measures we will take in the future, we hope to convince investors to come and stay in Romania.”

Except for Codlea, Dräxlmaier has also an engineering center in Brasov county, namely in Ghimbav, where automotive parts are designed and tested.

In Brasov, the German company is producing pieces for 28 car models. Factories here deliver 40,000 components per week. Employees in Brasov are working for Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Jaguar, Land Rover, Maserati, Mercedes, Porsche, Tesla and Volskwagen.

Dräxlmaier has factories in over 20 countries and 55,000 employees. Of these, 15,000, about 30 percent are working in Romania.
