German medical and pharmaceutical device company B. Braun will start the works on its greenfield factory in Sanandrei, Timis county. The unit will manufacture infusion solutions, following a total investment of EUR 120 million announced since last year, and will generate 250 new jobs. The surface of the plant will cover 37,000 square meters.
The reasons why we decided to expand our operations in Timis County with a new investment are qualified and well trained staff, the proximity of a university center and the developed infrastructure that provides easy access to the South Eastern Europe markets. With the completion of this new investment, Romania will become a strategic and stronger center for B. Braun in this region,” Christian Braun, CEO B. Braun South East Europe, stated in a press conference.
According to him, the COMPASS (Complex for Production, Administration, Shared Services and Regional Supplies) project will be built in two stages: the first phase will comprise the distribution part, consisting of offices and warehouses, and the second phase will include the production plant.
Thus, the project will include a regional distribution center, a research and development center and scientific services, an administrative center and a new infusion solutions facility. The works will be completed by 2020.
Present for nearly 21 years on the Romanian market, B. Braun had sales of EUR 66 million in 2017.
