Happy Restaurants, the largest restaurant chain in Bulgaria with locations in Barcelona and London, is set to expand into Romania, opening its first establishment at AFI Cotroceni in the middle of next year.
The company’s plan involves launching a minimum of five restaurants in Bucharest over the next five years. “We have been exploring the Romanian market for some time, and we are excited to bring our brand to the local scene. We are confident that this strategic move will mark a new chapter of success for Happy, now in Romania. The first step has already been taken because Happy Restaurants are recognized by some Romanians who spend their holidays in Bulgaria or other European cities, and soon we will have the honor of welcoming them in our restaurants here,” stated Ivan Popov, CEO of Happy Restaurants. Entry into Romania is part of the company’s global development plan, aiming to increase the number of restaurants from 40 to 70 by 2030 and expand into new markets, including the United Arab Emirates (Dubai).
In 28 years, the European restaurant chain has grown to over 40 locations across Europe, with 35 restaurants in Bulgaria and 5 in Spain (Barcelona) and the United Kingdom (London). The company aims to serve 40 million customers each year. Their first restaurant opened on Christmas Eve in 1994 in Varna.
