The Hungarian KÉSZ Group is expanding its presence on the Romanian market with a significant investment in Cluj County. The company has inaugurated a production plant in Moldovenești, supported by Hungarian government funds.
The group, one of the largest construction groups in Hungary and which has been operating in Romania for over two decades, is also developing a 51 million euro residential complex in Bucharest.
The new factory in Moldovenești represents an investment of HUF 1.8 billion (approximately EUR 4.6 million) and benefited from a Hungarian government support of HUF 761 million.
The production unit is intended for the manufacture of metal structures and components for heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, according to the Budapest Business Journal.
In a first phase, the factory will employ 13 people, but expansion plans are already in sight.
According to István Albu, the director of the Romanian branch, this investment will allow the company to access more complex projects and become more competitive on the local and regional market. We aim to capitalize on this new production capacity to access projects that require specialized components, expanding our customer base and increasing our competitiveness on the market,” Albu explained.
Among other projects that the Hungarian group is developing in Romania are a wellness and spa center in Covasna and the construction of a new Stihl factory. In addition to industrial, logistics and commercial complexes, Kész has also been involved in heritage restoration projects. These include the Kálnoky Castle in Micloșoara (Sepsikőröspatak, in Hungarian) and the renovation of the St. Michael Church in Cluj-Napoca, awarded the prestigious Europa Nostra award for heritage conservation. The company is also rehabilitating the Mathias Corvinus Collegium building in Oradea.
